You might ask what this day count is. This day count represents the first day of 2018. In other words, according to the Gregorian Calendar, the first day of 2018 corresponds to day 736,206. By the way, I didn’t take leap years into account. Because although leap years occur every four years with February 29, years like 1700 and 1900 are not considered leap years, and since I couldn’t calculate that, I just did the simple math of 365*2017+1.
Wishing the new year brings you beauty and happiness.
First of all, 2018 has arrived, and there are only 2 years left for the promise Enes and I made years ago. Time really flies. When I read the article I wrote last year, I saw what had happened and what hadn’t. I had made a list, and let’s now take a look at how many of those I managed to accomplish. Those I completely achieved will be GREEN, those I somewhat achieved will be ORANGE, and those I didn’t accomplish at all will be RED.
What were my goals in 2017?
- To learn English properly (No matter how much I know, it’s never enough, man.)
- To discover more new countries and cities.
- To complete at least 5 items from the 27 Before 27 list.
- This item I will only understand when I read it (Be a man, Burak Bayram 🙂 )
- Spend wisely and save.
- Make more pen pals.
- Send and receive more postcards.
- Completely learn at least one programming language.
- Learn something new to improve myself in design (Typography, for example).
- Prepare new trainings.
- Try to write a new book.
- Develop the Tubi channel and produce content.
- Continue to write blog posts (at least 1 per week).
- Take care of Behance and Dribbble.
That’s the situation, and unfortunately, I can’t consider myself successful in 2017. But there are also things I didn’t include here that I accomplished. For example, I became a licensed athlete in archery. I also started the YouTube series Career Talks this year. That was one of the best decisions I made, especially because of its reason for coming into existence.
If I think roughly about what I did this year:
- I worked at Microsoft as a long-term intern.
- I did a short-term internship at Blesh.
- The second edition of my YouTube book was published.
- I released a Photoshop Training Set on Udemy.
- I got my archery license.
- For the first and second time in my life, I attended English interviews.
- I started Career Talks.
- I participated in 2-3 hackathons with my teammates.
- We did an Interrail sponsored by Pegasus and Taç.
- We did a 10-day Trabzon-Rize tour.
- Throughout the year, I published a total of 8 blog posts 😀
- In 2017, I published a total of 52 videos.
- In 2017, my YouTube videos were watched a total of 1,757,224 times.
- 8,060 new friends subscribed to the channel.
- I did a lot of freelance work as well. In short, I really worked.
- I improved and am still improving my university grades.
- I learned to use 2 new programs.
- Finally, I made the most bus, train, and plane trips of my life this year.
So, in rough terms, this is how a year passed. Now let’s write down our goals for 2018. I will define the goals clearly so there will be no neutrality at the end of the year. Let’s start with Bismillah;
- Master English properly (Score at least 70 on TOEFL).
- Write the new book you have in mind (Photoshop Manipulation book).
- Produce more content for Udemy (Adobe Premiere Pro Training Set).
- Increase blog posts to 1 per week with higher quality (minimum 52 posts).
- Double the subscriber count in one year (instead of 8,000, gain 16,000 more).
- Prepare new episodes of Career Talks (26 episodes).
- Prepare training sets for YouTube (50 Camtasia lessons, 50 Illustrator lessons, 60 Java lessons).
- Read more books (minimum 25 books).
- Watch fewer series, anime, and videos (keep total series watched under 5).
- Be truly frugal and consistent (keep an income-expense notebook).
- For internships and jobs, settle things in your head. Decide what you want to do and where you want to work.
- Complete 6 items from the 27 Before 27 list.
- Finally, finish school, Burak 🙂
