Your WordPress site is up — now how do you actually write a post? Pick a category, attach images, and hit publish? The video below walks through writing a post in WordPress from start to finish.
What to Watch For When Posting
- From the left menu open Posts > Add New.
- The slug auto-fills from the title — accents and special characters get cleaned up automatically.
- Break the body into paragraphs and use sub-headings (H2/H3) — readability skyrockets.
- On the right pane pick a Category and add Tags: at least one category, 3–8 tags is a healthy default.
- Don’t skip the Featured Image — it’s what shows up in category lists and social previews.
- For every inline image add alt text and a caption.
- Hit Preview in both mobile and desktop view before publishing.
Note: In the video I couldn’t upload an image directly because write permissions on the server weren’t set yet. If you hit the same wall, make sure wp-content/uploads is writable.
