3 Movies You Should Watch — 3 Idiots, A Beautiful Mind, The Prestige

Starting a new series. Instead of writing about each film one by one, I’ll bundle them into packages — just like the music posts. I hope you’ll enjoy it. You can find all entries in this series under the Personal category, in the Movies I’ve Watchedsection.

3 Idiots

The first film I want to recommend is the first one that came to mind: 3 Idiots. Before watching it, when I heard “Indian / Bollywood film,” given I’d never watched a single Indian movie, I wasn’t excited. I generally thought Indian films were full of singing in the middle of scenes with little real logic. Back then I’d say a proper smart film comes out of Hollywood. But now, regardless of country, I run into really interesting films. People around me were recommending this one, plus a few short clips I caught on Facebook — that’s how I ended up watching it. Let me share a couple of those clips here in case they catch your attention.

A Beautiful Mind

The second one I’d recommend is A Beautiful Mind. A film that puts on display the psychological state of a brilliant mind. Watching it, you start to understand why people studying physics or similar fields sometimes don’t get a clean bill of mental health. The ending is among the rare ones that genuinely affected me.

The Prestige

The last and most recently watched: The Prestige. The film follows two magician friends who dedicate themselves to misdirection and entertaining people. But the film isn’t just about misdirection. It ends with a person who’s been there from the very beginning that you didn’t notice. It might mess with your head. Also, the film references the discovery of electricity and the names Tesla and Edison — that may catch your attention too.
