Amateur Vimeo Videos Made About Turkey

While trying to prepare a video about Anatolian culture, I found myself among the amateur-yet-quality videos that have been shot about Turkey on Vimeo. The guys really do quality work. And they truly deserve the praise. A month ago we said “let’s do something like this too,” and we did. There were nice comments — really, thanks to those. But to the ones who showed no respect for any effort and threw criticism as if it were an insult, I’ll say my hellos here too. Briefly: we’d had no training in this kind of filming, never done a shoot like this before, and our equipment was nowhere near as good as the people who do this professionally abroad. Our goal was to contribute even a little to Istanbul’s promotion. I don’t want to skip the ones who praised us either — they thanked us for the video and pointed out our mistakes in a humane tone. Of course, in future videos we’ll work to fix those mistakes — but for a first video, this is what it is. We weren’t born from our mothers’ wombs knowing how to do this, so we’ll have a growth process too. And in Turkey I’ve yet to see someone who actually attempts this kind of video project. I now understand why they don’t want to either. Yes, it’s nice when the thing is perfect, but that takes time. I know there are mistakes in the video too, but time, equipment and ideas were all limited at the moment. We’ll keep building on top of this project, God willing.

Below are videos made about Turkey. I’ll add ours too. Please don’t compare ours with what the pros made. Those guys traveled Turkey for 7 months for one video; ours was the result of 1–2 days of work. The reason we only spared 1–2 days is the usual: school. But keep following us. We’ll be back, God willing.
