I recently got acquainted with the Youth Bus when a friend shared a video on Facebook. In fact, I want to share the video my friend shared with you too. Honestly, when I saw this video, I didn’t quite believe it, not gonna lie. Who is going to take whom around 15 countries and 28 cities, provide accommodation, and feed them, and apparently they even have guides to introduce us to the places we visit. I was saying, “No way, get outta here.” I even said to myself, “I’ll look at it later, let me bookmark it,” and I did. Then half an hour passed, curiosity naturally struck, I went back to the video, and then I reached the website of this event and all.
Then I entered the site… While reading sections like the project, participation conditions, general information, project date, and sponsors, towards the end, I felt like I was experiencing an explosion of happiness. It seriously appealed to me a lot, and it looked really real and fun. That was the moment I went in and filled out the application form.
At one point while filling out the application form, I thought, “Let me write a really long response so they understand how much I want it.” Then the saying “talk less, say more” came to my mind. So this time, I decided to keep it brief and talk about my crucial points. Hopefully, they like it and we pass this elimination. If we don’t pass, whatever is best, of course, but it would be super if they liked it… Honestly, I believe with all my heart that I will pass the elimination. In fact, while filling out the form, at the very end, there was a section saying “share this event on your social networks too.” The moment I said, “Why should I share it? I don’t care, I don’t want everyone to find out,” I started questioning myself again. I said, “Burak, be a man,” I said, “Don’t you trust yourself?” I said, “What’s going on, bro?” I went on and on. Plus, I said, “If you don’t announce it to your friends, is there any meaning left to friendship?” I said, “Is this what friendship is?” I kept telling myself all this. But then I found the right path and shared it everywhere—Twitter, Google Plus, Facebook and liked the videos on YouTube… In fact, as I shared, I even made brand new friends who were applying to the Youth Bus. So I said to myself, “If you don’t withhold your goodness from others, that goodness will eventually come around and find you” I ended up saying quite a lot. I don’t think I’ve ever used the word “I said” this much in my life. Well, that was my application adventure. Also, just imagine if I actually go there—what videos, what photos, what articles would come out of me.
So there it is: 15 countries, 28 cities, amazing fun, a knowledge-gathering trip, new memories, new friendships, and places you haven’t visited or seen. I think you should apply too; you won’t lose anything. You’ll only add +100 to your current status. I will do my best to join the bus, but you pray for me too. It doesn’t happen without prayers.
