Leyla ile Mecnun; poems, stories, tales, and novels have been written about it, but such a TV series was truly unique. I really used to enjoy the series when it was on the air. By the way, I didn’t start watching it when it first began, but rather when the second Leyla arrived. I generally followed it on the internet. As far as I know, 103 episodes were broadcast. Then, after the series ended, the 104th episode was also aired, as far as I know; in fact, TRT put the 104th episode on the air exactly when *Bende Özledim* was broadcasting on Star TV.
The series was really interesting. While watching, you would both laugh and feel sad, and you’d deal with sharp witticisms that made you think :D. Actually, those jokes are what draw me to these kinds of productions. The same thing is present in *Kardeş Payı*, and honestly, I watch that too… The characters playing in *Leyla ile Mecnun* really did justice to their roles. I don’t know what they are like in real life, but they entertained me in the series.
The series was canceled due to low ratings. Actually, it makes sense; even though I watched the whole series, the number of episodes I watched in front of the television doesn’t exceed the number of fingers on one hand. In fact, now that I think about it, 2-3 episodes at most. It has always been like this because I don’t watch much television. But it was a good series. Compared to other Turkish TV shows, it kept me sitting in front of it for hours. Normally, I use the fast-forward button a lot in series. I skip parts like boring conversations or moments where I can guess what will happen, even if just a little. But I rarely encountered this situation in *Leyla ile Mecnun*.
Actually, after the first Leyla left, the quality dropped a bit, not gonna lie. They shouldn’t have let the first Leyla go. They had become a complete team. It was beautiful. It was superb. The 2nd Leyla didn’t suit it at all. The 3rd Leyla already far surpassed Mecnun in terms of height; not only did I think they didn’t look good together, but the 3rd Leyla also didn’t fit a series like this in terms of comedy.
Anyway, there’s no point in dragging it out. It was a good series. Kudos to everyone who contributed. And of course, Leyla The Band…
