Pasta | Camping Recipes

We were camping at Yalova / Çınarcık. This time I wanted to eat slightly fancier meals and mix it up, so I packed mostly ingredients I could turn into something hot. The first dish I made was pasta. I’ll list the ingredients now, but I’d recommend dialling the amounts to your own taste and the number of people you’re cooking for. My batch was enough to comfortably feed two — you can see that in the video.

Ingredients

  • Pasta
  • Cream
  • Sucuk (Turkish dry sausage)
  • Sweet green pepper (çarliston)
  • Cooking oil
  • Kaşar cheese
  • Spices

With these you can put together a really tasty pasta. Watch the video above for the steps.

Two things I’d flag:

  1. I didn’t add salt — the sucuk brings enough.
  2. I didn’t boil the water first and then drop the pasta in — I put the pasta into cold water and cooked them together. Out in the field, constantly feeding the fire is a hassle; “the faster you finish, the better” is the rule.
