Our second week’s first Summer School guest was CNN Türk reporter Ahu Özyurt. In her talk, Özyurt covered the connection between news broadcasting and technology, details about the CNN Türk website, who controls and publishes these broadcasts, and her thoughts on what journalism will look like in the future.
Our pre-lunch guest was Daron Yöndem — MVP, XOMNI CTO and Microsoft Regional Director. Since Daron’s field ties into Windows Azure, before fully diving into Azure he shared a few notes and book recommendations on topics like SQL. He also talked about how programming isn’t something you do up to a certain age — you can keep at it as you get older — and gave examples. Just before the lunch break he gave a short intro to cloud services.
Once we’d recharged nicely over lunch, you could say he went a bit deeper into his domain. What you can do with Azure, what the cloud services are, and where and how we’d use them — we picked up plenty on these. This more technically focused Azure session wrapped up with a hands-on demo.
The day’s last guest was Yavuz Buruk, Microsoft’s Customer & Partner Satisfaction Director and Corporate Marketing Director. He explained how Microsoft ensures customer satisfaction and what they pay attention to in pursuit of it. To wrap up, we ran a few rough surveys covering all the Summer School students.
