Tonight we’ll attend the Pebble Meetup being held for the second time in Turkey. Along with our friends organizing the Meetup, Fatih Dumanlıand Bertuğ Berkay Yemen, we’ll start developing our first Pebble application. If you have no knowledge of Pebble at all, or are hearing about it for the first time, let me try to give you a summary. Pebble, in May 2012, while trying to do an entrepreneurial push by raising 100,000 on Kickstarter, signed a first on Kickstarter by raising 10 million dollars — and a journey began. By the way, Pebble is a smartwatch. As for Pebble’s features: it has Bluetooth 4.0, an E-paper screen, an LED backlight, water resistance up to 50 meters, weighs 38 g and is 52mm×36mm×11.5mm.
It works on both Android and iOS. After downloading the Pebble app and pairing via Bluetooth, you can start using your smartwatch. They also said it has a good scratch protection. In total there are 4 buttons around the frame. These buttons are back, up, down and select. By the way, the screen is not touch — you handle control through these buttons. So what does this Pebble do for us? Pebble forwards notifications from your phone, you can set alarms, of course it has clock features. They’ve said the battery life is 3-4 days. That’s all I can write for now. You can also check Özlem Arslantürk’spost who shared a blog post about the first MeetUp.
After the Pebble Meetup that will take place tonight, February 5, at Microsoft Turkey, I’ll try to share what was left over from the event with you.
Update:On the evening of February 5, under heavy rain, we went to the Pebble Meetup taking place at Microsoft. After filling our bellies with the pizzas first, after briefly touching on what Pebble is and isn’t, we learned how to write a small application for Pebble. At the end of the day, 1 Pebble was given as a gift, and that’s how we came to the end of the day 🙂 I say insha’Allah to many Pebble events.
